Ofsted consultation on changes from January 2018

Ofsted published the outcomes of their summer 2017 consultation on proposed changes to short inspections with plans that will be implemented only for the period up until the end of December 2017.

A new consultation has now been launched which is open until Wednesday 8th November. This consultation develops the themes from feedback to the initial consultation and proposes some significant changes that will impact on most schools and academies.

Apprenticeships in schools – new DfE guidance

In April 2017 the government changed the funding mechanism for apprenticeships in England. As a consequence many schools and academies are now required to contribute to the Apprenticeship Levy. New guidance, published by the Department for Education, in June 2018, provides information on what apprenticeships are, how to access them, how they can contribute to improving the skills within the school workforce, and how the Apprenticeship Levy and public sector target apply to schools.
