Revised NQT Guidance

The Department for Education issued revised statutory guidance on Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) Induction on 22nd December 2016. The guidance applies to maintained schools, academies, Pupil Referral Units and sixth form and Further Education (FE) Colleges.


The revised guidance includes an outline of the duties on governing bodies and trust boards in academies and multi-academy trusts. It applies equally to those settings required to offer induction for NQTs as well as those, such as FE colleges, where there is no legal obligation to have completed statutory induction, in order to teach, but have nonetheless opt to provide induction.
