New Governance Handbook – March 2019

The Department for Education (DfE) has issued a new and updated version of The Governance Handbook to replace the previous edition published in January 2017.

The new version continues to reflect the key competency areas within the DfE Competency Framework (2017).  This Handbook reflects; legislation, policy and procedural changes, introduced since January 2017 that impact on governance.

Reception Baseline Assessment delayed until 2021.

Following its 2017 consultation, the Department for Education (DfE) announced plans to introduce statutory Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA) in the Autumn of 2020. The Standards and Testing Agency, part of the DfE, wrote to headteachers on June 25th and at the same time published a notice on its area of the DfE website announcing the postponement of the requirement until the autumn of 2021.
