The Constitution of Governing Bodies of Maintained Schools

The DfE publication The Constitution of Governing Bodies of Maintained Schools (March 2015) updates and replaces the version published in May 2014 and contains some important changes to regulations that governors in maintained schools will want to be aware of.

 

The key changes are:

  • Governing bodies should publish information about their members and their register of interests, on their websites

  • There is a new paragraph raising governor awareness to the risk of becoming dominated by particular mind-sets or strands of opinion.

  • Terms of office can be varied for individual governors as well as categories of governor.
